CEN 1304 is a three-credit course meeting 10 hours a
week. Completion of CGS 1570 (Computer
Concepts and Applications) is required.
Course requires computer use outside of class time to complete computer
assignments.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course
provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install,
configure, customize, and troubleshoot Windows XP professional in work group
and domain networks. In addition, this course gives you the background to
understand Microsoft courses that cover detailed technical support of Windows XP
Professional and Windows Server.
This course provides information necessary to pass the Microsoft
Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 70-270 exam (Installing, Configuring, and
Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional).
The course is also intended for those who will support or
administer networks.
GRADING CRITERIA: There will be
approximately eight (8) written tests, covering Chapters 1-15. There will be eight (8) assignments, equally
weighted (12 points each--total possible points 96), which will count as one
test. The course grade will be an
average of the written tests and assignments.
The following grade scale will be used:
90 - 100 = A 70 - 76 = C
87 -
89 = B+ 67 - 69 = D+
80 -
86 = B 60 - 66 = D
77 -
79 = C+ Below 60 = F
Missed tests must be made up the day after returning to class. STUDENTS
ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHEDULING MAKEUP TESTS.
IMPORTANT: Students desiring to withdraw must
do so before September 30. It
is the student’s responsibility to submit the withdrawal paperwork as per PJC
catalog. Incompletes can be given only if 70% of classwork
has been completed and there is a reasonable chance of passing. See PJC catalog
for withdrawal, incomplete, and attendance policies.
