Graduate Opportunities:

1.  A new transfer program to earn a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Sciences, Zoo Science Specialty at the University of West Florida in Pensacola is now available for PJC Zoo Animal Technology graduates.

2.  Advanced Technical Certificates in ZOO RESEARCH and ELEPHANT BIOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT and HERPETOLOGY and INTERNATIONAL ZOOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE are now available at PJC as well. Graduates of any approved A.S. degree program nationwide in Zoo Technology or Zookeeping may request to enroll in these exciting new advanced programs! In the research program, students gain insight and hands on experience in the field of scientific research with exotic animals. The program is 12 credits; students take a 3 credit statistics course on campus, a 3 credit bat management and research lab course at The Lubee Foundation in Gainesville, Florida, and a 6 credit principles of zoo research lab course at Zoo Atlanta. In the elephant program, students take 9 credits of coursework in elephant biology, snake charmer cartoon conservation education, husbandry, and management over 5 weeks at the Jacksonville Zoo. The herpetology program is 12 credits; students take a 3 credit statistics course on campus and 9 credits of coursework in husbandry, management, conservation, education, and research with venomous and non-venomous reptiles at the Kentucky Reptile Zoo in Slade, Kentucky.  In the international zoological experience program, students accompany the program director to work on projects at Munda Wanga Sanctuary in Zambia for 5 weeks and followed by a one week course on Ecotourism and Conservation in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia and Lake Malawi.
